How to license Apex Pest Control images

This page explains how to request permission to use images owned or controlled by Apex Pest Control Ltd (“Apex Pest Control”, “we”, “us”). It is intended for journalists, publishers, agencies, organisations and individuals who wish to reproduce our images in print, online or in any other media.

Using our images without permission, where no legal exception applies, may infringe copyright and other rights. Permission is not automatic and is always at our discretion.

1. Press and editorial use

We welcome fair and accurate press and editorial coverage of Apex Pest Control and our work. If you are a journalist, editor or publisher and wish to use our images for genuine editorial purposes (for example, news stories, features or reviews relating to pest control or to Apex Pest Control):

  • You must request permission in advance unless we have already supplied you with images and written terms for that specific use.
  • Any approved editorial use must clearly credit “Apex Pest Control” and include a visible link to our website page where the image or related content appears, or to our main homepage, as agreed.
  • Editorial permission does not extend to advertising, advertorial, sponsored content, corporate marketing or any other promotional use, which require a separate licence and may incur higher fees.

We reserve the right to refuse any editorial request, for example where the proposed context may be misleading, defamatory, offensive or otherwise damaging to our brand or reputation.

2. Our discretion and commercial advantage

Licensing decisions are made solely at Apex Pest Control’s discretion. We are under no obligation to grant a licence, to explain a refusal, or to offer the same terms to different users.

Licences are granted only where we consider that the proposed use:

  • Is compatible with our brand, values and legal obligations.
  • Offers a clear advantage to Apex Pest Control (for example, appropriate publicity, relationship value or commercial return).
  • Can be adequately controlled through written terms.

In most cases, fees will be payable to Apex Pest Control for any use of our images beyond limited, approved editorial coverage. Fees will depend on factors such as the image requested, the nature and prominence of the use, media, territory, duration and audience size.

3. When you must request a licence

You must request a licence from Apex Pest Control before using any of our images in any of the following ways (this list is not exhaustive):

  • On your own website, blog, online shop or social media channels.
  • In printed or digital marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, catalogues, proposals and pitch decks.
  • In advertisements, sponsorship materials, advertorials, sponsored posts, pay‑per‑click campaigns or other promotional content.
  • In training materials, e‑learning, internal communications, reports or investor presentations.
  • On products, packaging, signage, vehicle liveries, exhibition stands or any other physical or digital goods.

A licence may be required whether your use is commercial or non‑commercial, and whether or not you receive payment or sponsorship for the use. “Fair dealing” exceptions under copyright law are limited and should not be relied upon for routine marketing or promotional activity.

4. Information to include in your request

To help us assess your request, please email us or use the contact form specified on this website and include all of the following:

  • Your full name, organisation (if applicable) and contact details.
  • A link to the Apex Pest Control web page containing the image, or a clear description/file name of the image you wish to use.
  • A detailed description of the proposed use (for example, “one image in a print leaflet advertising our services”, “one image in an online article about pest‑proofing”, “banner image on our homepage”).
  • The media in which the image will appear (print, website, social media, video, email campaigns, etc.).
  • The territory (for example, UK‑only, Europe, worldwide).
  • The expected duration of use (for example, one‑off use, three‑month campaign, one year, archive access).
  • Whether the use is editorial, commercial, educational or internal‑only, and any expected circulation, audience size or page views.

The more precise you are, the easier it will be for us to determine whether we can license the image and on what terms. If you later wish to use the same image in a different way (for example, in a new campaign or medium), you will need to request and agree an additional licence.

5. Our review process and possible outcomes

After receiving your request, we will review:

  • Whether we control the relevant rights in the image you have identified.
  • Whether the proposed use is acceptable to us and consistent with our brand and legal obligations.
  • What licence terms and fees, if any, would be appropriate.

We may then:

  • Offer you a licence on specific terms, including a fee quotation.
  • Ask for further information or clarification.
  • Decline to grant a licence.
  • Refer you to a third‑party rights holder if we do not control the rights you need.

We are not obliged to respond to incomplete requests and may prioritise requests that are clear, professionally presented and time‑sensitive (such as reputable press enquiries).

6. Licence terms and payment

If we agree to license an image, we will normally send you written terms (for example, by email or in a short‑form licence agreement) setting out:

  • The image(s) covered.
  • The permitted use(s), media, territory and duration.
  • Any restrictions (for example, no use in certain sectors or contexts, no editing or cropping without approval).
  • Credit and linking requirements (for example, mandatory credit line and link to our website for editorial use).
  • The licence fee or royalty and payment terms.

You must not use the image until you have:

  • Accepted the licence terms in writing; and
  • Paid any required fee, where payment in advance is specified.

Any use outside the scope of the agreed licence will be treated as unlicensed use and may result in us seeking additional fees, requiring removal of the image, and/or taking further action.

7. No automatic or implied permission

Nothing on this website, including the presence of an image, the absence of a copyright symbol or watermark, or the fact that we have licensed an image to someone else, should be taken as permission for you to use any image. Please read our general copyright and assets page.

Permission is only granted where Apex Pest Control provides written confirmation of a licence for a clearly defined use and you accept those terms.

8. Legal advice

This page provides general information about our approach to image licensing. It does not constitute legal advice. If you are uncertain about your rights or obligations, you should seek independent legal advice.

For all image licensing enquiries, please use the contact details provided on this website and clearly mark your message “Image licence request”.
